Cybersecurity - Thinking legally and strategically
It was a great privilege to be invited to present at the Cyber Security Research Bootcamp 2023, hosted by the University of Adelaide in January 2023 and convened by Professor Matthew Sorell, University of Adelaide and Tallinn University of Technology.
In presenting on the topic “Cybersecurity – Thinking Legally and Strategically”, I addressed current legal developments and challenges in the Australian and global cybersecurity landscape, including:
Cybersecurity of personal and critical infrastructure data
Privacy and human rights
Threat trends arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and changing threat landscapes
Mandatory data breach notification requirements
Best practice cybersecurity frameworks
The need for expertise in best practice cybersecurity risk management
The benefits of strategic governance in implementing legal and strategic cybersecurity.
Professional assistance to address these questions and to provide expert training is available and should be sought, as appropriate.
